RESEARCH AND WRITING

LSTE 7303-Multimedia Lessons

LSTE 7330-Distance Ed. Timeline

Picture
According to Mayer (2001), “People learn better from words and pictures than from words alone” Building multimedia lessons in ways that are compatible with the human learning process can be challenging, especially if the designer doesn’t understand how the human mind learns.

This is a research paper examining various multimedia principles that should be used when creating effective multimedia lessons.

Distance education is a field with a long evolving history. As noted in our text,” the concepts that form the basis of this type of education are more than a century old.”

This distance education timeline was created using PowerPoint to display significant events as well as the developments of hardware and software relevant to distance education.

LSTE 7330-Institution Comparison of Distance Education

Picture
Schlosser & Simonson (2009), define distance education as, “institution based, formal education where the learning group is separated, and where interactive telecommunications systems are used to connect learners, resources, and instructors.”  Additionally, Simonson, et al (2009) contend that an online course is one where majority of the content is delivered online, which means at least 80% of the course content is presented online.

This particular project explores the course offerings currently available in the online settings at 5 different learning institutions.  The idea here is to compare and learn how different universities are handling online courses.

EDFN 7314-Instructional Philosophy of Pratice

Picture
An educational philosophy is a personal statement of a teacher's guiding principles about their overall view of education-related issues.

This document represents my set of principles and ideals that affect student performance, specifically in the areas of instructional technology.  It touches on various theories of learning and provides my instructional technology philosophy.

EDFN 7303-mini research proposal

Picture

Human beings conduct research on a daily basis in many different ways and education is no different. Because learning is a complex process, there will always be a need to conduct and develop research to understand the processes occurring in students’ minds.

The is a mini research proposal I developed to determine what the relationship is between student attendance and the number lecture recordings accessed in a semester long pharmacy course at UAMS.

EDFN 7313-Applying theories of human learning and psychological principles

Picture
Major theories of human learning and psychological principles of learning are important for instruction to be successful.  It is equally as important that multimedia design use these theories as a groundwork for evidence based practice to promote efficient learning.  The attached documents represent some of these theories and how I would apply them in a practical setting.

Positive Reinforcement in UAMS Parking Operations
Piagetian and Neo-Piagetian Principles in the Workplace
